ATLANTA, GA — Hotel Equities (HE), a best-in-class hospitality operator and developer, announces its commitment to achieving 100% Green Key Eco-Rating Certification across its portfolio by 2028. Formalized through the company’s partnership with Green Key Global, the certification program backed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC), the program advances Hotel Equities’ sustainability initiatives portfolio-wide and aligns with corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

Green Key Global is a North American environmental certification body for the hotel and lodging industry. Properties receive an eco-rating through a rigorous assessment and audit process that measures hotel performance in a number of key areas including energy and water conservation, land use, hazardous and solid waste management, air quality and more.

“Sustainability is woven into how we operate,” said Martin Stitt, SVP of Operations and Co-Chair of HE’s Sustainability Committee. “Our commitment to 100% eco-rating certification is a natural extension of that operating philosophy, and one we believe will create measurable value for our owners, our guests, team members, and the communities we serve.”

Leading this work is HE’s Sustainability Committee, a cross-discipline committee with diverse perspectives tasked with identifying opportunities and deploying solutions that are both practical at the property level and impactful across the enterprise. The committee’s core objective is to identify, strengthen, and scale sustainable practices by leveraging partnerships and sharing cost-effective, ROI-driven solutions, ultimately creating owner value while meeting rising guest expectations for meaningful, sustainable experiences.

The 100% commitment builds on meaningful progress in 2025, including identifying Sustainability Champions across its portfolio, the incorporation of sustainability into budgets, and HE earning a seat on key industry committees to stay at the forefront of the conversation on sustainability in hospitality.

HE’s sustainability efforts are part of a broader ESG commitment that extends beyond environmental performance and includes initiatives centered on national partnerships and community-level engagement, with focus areas including food and homeless insecurity, education and youth, and support for first responders and the military, connecting HE’s corporate values with the communities its properties serve.
