Hilton Hotels Presents Worldwide “Connie” Award to Hampton Inn-Okeechobee

ATLANTA, GA (May 20, 2011) – Hilton Hotels recently named the Hampton Inn in Okeechobee, Florida the winner of a prestigious “Connie” Award for customer service as one of the top six Hampton Inn hotels in the entire brand.

Named for the founder of Hilton Hotels, Conrad Hilton, known as “Connie” to his friends, the award is reserved for the top hotels in each brand worldwide across Hilton Hotels. Hotel Equities Adds Management of Country Inn & Suites in Concord, NC

Atlanta, GA–February 6, 2011 – Atlanta-based Hotel Equities (www.hotelequities.com) recently acquired the management contract for the 80-room Country Inn & Suites by Carlson hotel at 580 Dickens Place, NE, in Concord, North Carolina. Located just beyond Charlotte on I-85, Concord is a new market for Hotel Equities (HE).

Cerrone Receives Robinson College Alumni Award

ATLANTA – Fred Cerrone, President and CEO of Hotel Equities, was one of five alumni and one honorary alumnus honored recently at the 8th Annual J. Mack Robinson College of Business Alumni Awards Celebration held at Georgia State University’s Buckhead Center at 200 Tower Place.

Mr. Cerrone received the Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship.  Other winners were Ken Byers, Jr, winner of the Alumni Leadership Award for Lifetime Achievement; A Michael McCracken (Honorary Alumnus Award); Connie McDaniel (Alumni Award for Service to the Robinson College); Julio Ramirez (Alumni Award for Global Business Leadership); J. Leland Strange (Alumni Technology Leadership Award).

Awards were based on both business achievements and community service.

Barbara Babbit Kaufman, also a Robinson graduate, CEO of BBK Enterprises, and a member of the Robinson College Board of Advisors, served as emcee.

Fred Cerrone’s hospitality career spans a four-decade progression from desk clerk at Boston’s largest hotel to managing operations for hotels throughout the country to launching Hotel Equities, his own company, in 1989.

A general manager at age 21 and twice recognized as “General Manager of the Year” by national hotel franchises, Cerrone has hospitality in his blood. After many years in key positions with top hotels, he founded Hotel Equities and became a Marriott franchise partner. Cerrone then co-founded Day Hospitality Group (DHG) with Peyton Day. After a successful 10-year run, he purchased the management segment of DHG and renamed the company Hotel Equities.

Cerrone holds an M.B.A. from Georgia State University and an A.S. in hotel and restaurant management from Miami Dade College. He holds the prestigious Certified Hotel Administrator designation through the American Lodging Association. Cerrone also serves on the advisory board for Georgia State University’s Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality, and the Robinson College Board of Advisors.

Cerrone also served in the United States Marine Corps.

Recipients were selected by a committee comprising alumni representatives, members of the College Board of Advisors and faculty/staff members.

Hotel Equities Adds Nancy Curtin Morris as Training and People Development Coach

ATLANTA (October 25, 2010) – Atlanta-based Hotel Equities (HE) recently named Nancy Curtin Morris as the company’s Training and People Development Coach.  In that role, Ms. Morris will provide ongoing consulting services to Hotel Equities.

A performance management and learning professional, Ms. Morris currently heads the Trinity Team, an Atlanta-based consulting firm she founded in 2010.  Before starting her own firm, Ms. Morris spent 24 years with hospitality industry giant Marriott International, Inc.  For the past ten years, she served as the company’s Senior Director of Learning, North America.

“Nancy brings a wealth of experience in training to our team,” said Tamara Markham, Senior Operations Director, HE.  “She has a proven track record as a highly skilled and capable leader who knows how to drive business results. She is an outstanding asset to Hotel Equities.”

Ms. Morris began her hospitality career with The Sheraton Corporation, Inc. first in Tucson, AZ and then in Savannah, GA where she served as Director of Conventions.  Hired by Marriott International in 1986, she worked in convention services at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC, and then moved to Convention and Catering Manager at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA.

In 1990, Ms. Morris came to the Atlanta Marriott Marquis as Director of Training, a post she held for six years.  She trained and prepared the hotel staff to be the “host hotel” for the 1996 Olympic Games.  Next promoted to Regional Director of Training for Marriott, she covered the Southeast Region out of Atlanta for four years before she moved to a national role.  In that post, she was responsible for 20 national leadership training programs for Marriott throughout North America.

Ms. Morris earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Providence College and a Master of Science in Adult Education from Georgia State University.  She holds numerous professional certifications in her field including Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Stephen Covey Master Trainer, Gallup Strengths assessment, a number of coaching certifications, DISC and the Hogan Assessment.   A frequent speaker to professional gatherings as well as an Online Faculty member with the University of Phoenix, Nancy is the past president of the Human Resources Leadership Forum in Atlanta.

A resident of Mableton, GA, Ms. Morris and her husband are the parents of three children. An avid tennis player and golfer, she enjoys coaching youth sports and volunteering at her children’s school.  She participates actively in her church and helps in fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network.
